Shetland Round Britain & Ireland 2010

The 12th running of the Shetland Round Britain & Ireland 2010 race departs Plymouth on Sunday 6th June.

The race is again kindly sponsored by The Shetland Islands Council.

Race entry now exceeds 50 boats and includes several boats and crews who have taken part in previous Round Britain races.

The Race is open to all yachts and multihulls between 30’ and 50’ in length, crewed by two people only.
Classes are to be arranged by the IRC handicap system.

Started by the Royal Western in 1966, the Round Britain and Ireland is one of the International classics of short-handed sailing, and over the years has attracted the great names.
The course is clockwise around all of Great Britain & Ireland, and there are compulsory stops of 48 hours at Kinsale, Barra, Lerwick and Lowestoft where the hospitality is legendary.
It is always a terrific test of endurance and seamanship, and not for the faint hearted.
