Going bats at Mount Edgcumbe

Saturday 4 September
8pm

Join us for a nocturnal adventure and let our colonies of bats be your guide. With rare species calling Mount Edgcumbe home, you could be in for a real treat with this expedition. Meeting on the terrace at the front of the house at 8pm, the walk will take approximately two to three hours and finish off with hot soup and cost £5 per person. Please make sure that you wrap up warm and wear suitable footwear for the walk. Due to limited spaces, booking is essential.


Family bushcraft day

Saturday 11 September
10am

Enjoy a family adventure with our experienced rangers learning all about the great outdoors. Learn how to build a shelter, light a fire without matches and even forage for food!

All children must be accompanied by an adult with no more than two children per adult. Tickets are 1 adult + 1 child – £10, 1 adult + 2 children – £13, 2 adults + 1 child £17. Meet at the Penlee Battery car park at 10am wearing suitable clothing and footwear, you should bring a packed lunch and drink with you. The day will run until 3pm. There are limited spaces on this event, so please book early to avoid disappointment.


Historic buildings

Thursday 9 September
1.30pm

Guided walk with archaeologist and steward, James at 1.30pm from the terrace in front of the House. Learn about the history of some of our recently restored buildings and look at some fascinating recent studies of the 18th century English Garden House. The excursion will take approximately 1.5 hours and costs £5 per person. Spaces are limited so please book early.


Weaving wonders workshop**

Sunday 26 September
10.30am to 3.30pm

This workshop will allow you to explore the traditional art of weaving using recycled and contemporary materials and techniques.

The day will start at 10.30am and run until 3.30pm and costs £30 per person. Small group numbers ensure time and space to develop your ideas to the full, whether a beginner or more experienced artist. Booking for this workshop is essential. Most materials will be provided, but a list of any additional requirements will be provided when booking.

Tea and coffee will be provided. Please bring a packed lunch or the Stables Café will be open for refreshments.
